Modelled income tax on the same gross employment income in both countries · reference rates 2026-10-12
Income tax at five income levels.

What this does not show.
Ordinary employment income only. Private-practice revenue, clinic overheads, professional insurance, pension schemes and regional taxes are outside these models unless a country guide says otherwise.
Doctors: employment and independent practice
The Germany comparison is an ordinary resident employment scenario. We have not yet verified a doctor-specific independent-practice regime for this country. Do not apply Indonesia’s NPPN 50% here or enter clinic turnover as salary. Practice deductions, professional contributions and mixed income require additional local research.
United Kingdom: employment versus private practice
Hospital salary follows employment rules. A self-employed practitioner normally calculates taxable business profit after allowable expenses; HMRC publishes specific guidance for doctors and medical partnerships. There is no automatic Indonesian-style 50% assumption in this model. National Insurance and NHS pension treatment require separate calculations.

Which takes less income tax from EUR 100,000, Germany or United Kingdom?
United Kingdom has the lower modelled income tax at EUR 100,000: 25.2% against 30.9% in Germany. This compares simplified national income tax models for a single resident employee, converted at the site's dated reference exchange rates. It is not take-home pay.
Do these figures include social contributions in Germany and United Kingdom?
Never inside the income tax figure. United Kingdom has a separate employee contribution estimate shown beside the tax. Germany has no contribution estimate yet, so its real deductions are higher than shown.
Does this apply to a doctor’s private-practice income?
No. The comparison uses ordinary employment income for a single resident adult with no dependants. Practice revenue, overheads, professional insurance, pensions and special regimes follow different rules. Read each country guide before relying on a figure.
How current are the tax rates used?
Germany: 2026, sources checked 12 October 2026. United Kingdom: 2026/27, sources checked 12 October 2026. Each guide links its official source. Check the current rules with the tax authority before making a decision.
