🇸🇻 How tax works
in El Salvador.
2026 (Art. 37 as reformed 2025) · National income tax guide
The calculation, explained.
Domiciled individuals: Art. 37 annual schedule with exempt band to USD 6,600, then 10%, 20% and 30% (May 2025 reform raised the exempt floor from USD 4,064).
Statutory liquidación uses cuota fija + marginal rate on excess and can differ slightly from a pure slice model. Salary-only fixed deduction rules and ISSS/AFP are excluded.
Doctors: employment and independent practice
The El Salvador comparison is an ordinary resident employment scenario. We have not yet verified a doctor-specific independent-practice regime for this country. Do not apply Indonesia’s NPPN 50% here or enter clinic turnover as salary. Practice deductions, professional contributions and mixed income require additional local research.
Tax brackets · USD
Each rate applies only to the income inside that band.
